Privacy Policy

Cherry helps people create a Gift Profile with gift ideas, personal picks, sizes, style notes, interests, and preferences. Profile owners can share a link, and shoppers can use that profile to choose gifts without revealing purchase details to the profile owner.

• Account details such as your name, email address, authentication provider, email verification state, and password credentials handled by Firebase Authentication.
• Gift Profile details such as wishlist items, product URLs, images, notes, sizes, fit preferences, favorite colors, avoided colors, hobbies, dislikes, device details, gift guidance, and optional profile basics like date of birth.
• Optional allergy and medically related dietary details you provide are health information. Cherry stores these with the Gift Profile you manage and uses them to personalize gift suitability.
• If you create a Child Gift Profile, the child's first name or nickname, date of birth, gift preferences, interview answers, and gift picks that you provide and manage as the parent or guardian. Cherry does not create a login, email address, phone number, or profile photo for the child.
• Contact details you choose to add, such as phone number. Cherry stores phone matching data as a hashed match key for contact matching rather than publishing the number on your Gift Profile.
• Optional Contacts access lets you choose people for Secret Santa or find friends on iPhone. For friend matching, only the email addresses and phone numbers of contacts you select are sent to Cherry. These lookup details are not retained; Cherry saves the resulting connections to discoverable, shared Gift Profiles. Contact names stay on your device during friend lookup. For Secret Santa, Cherry saves the names you add with your exchange and keeps invitation email addresses and phone numbers in secure storage on your device. An email address is sent to Cherry when you choose email delivery. Text invitations open Messages for you to send. Cherry does not upload your whole address book or read your messages.
• Shopper activity such as purchase marks, unmark actions, retailer clicks, and guest-to-friend claim activity.
• Gifting information such as occasions, people, private plans, budgets, and gift status; reminder and exchange activity, including invitations, RSVP responses, and private assignments; and, when you use optional device notifications, the device push token, app version, and permission data. Cherry uses this information to provide gift planning, reminders, exchanges, and optional notifications.
• Content reports, optional report details, blocking choices, and messages or requests you send to Cherry, including privacy, account, or support requests.

Cherry may collect device, browser, IP address, request, session, diagnostic, and product-interaction data needed to run the app, protect accounts, debug errors, measure launch readiness, and understand which product and recommendation flows are working.

Google Sign-In may use your IP address to estimate an approximate location for fraud prevention. Its SDK also processes account, device, and usage information for sign-in and service analytics. Cherry does not request device location access or collect GPS location.

• Create and secure accounts, sessions, and email verification.
• Build, save, personalize, and display Gift Profiles and picks.
• Confirm that a Child Gift Profile is for a child under 13 and derive age-appropriate gift context without showing the exact date of birth on a shared profile or sending it to retailers.
• Generate and rank gift suggestions from the information you choose to save.
• Let owners share profiles and let shoppers mark gifts as purchased without spoiling the buyer identity for the owner.
• Match friends by verified email or hashed phone match data when that feature is used.
• Route shoppers to retailers, measure retailer clicks, prevent abuse, and improve app quality.

A shared Gift Profile can show the profile owner's public profile summary, preferences, gift notes, and product cards to anyone who can open the share link, depending on the owner's visibility settings. Do not add information to your profile that you would not want a link recipient to use for gift shopping.

Purchase marks are meant to help shoppers avoid duplicate gifts. They may be visible to other shoppers, but Cherry is designed to hide identity-specific purchase state from the profile owner.

Child Gift Profiles start private. The parent or guardian who created the profile controls whether to turn on a share link. A shared Child Gift Profile may show the child's first name or nickname, gift preferences, and product picks, but not the child's exact date of birth or the parent's account contact information.

Cherry uses service providers to host the app, authenticate users, store data, process product lookups, generate recommendations, send account emails, diagnose errors, and measure product usage. These providers are allowed to process information for Cherry's app operations.

When you open a retailer link, you leave Cherry and the retailer's own privacy policy applies. Retailer links may include affiliate information so Cherry can earn a commission at no extra cost to the shopper.

DeepInfra currently provides AI processing for Cherry. With your permission, Cherry sends the gift information described below to DeepInfra to personalize and evaluate Cherry Picks.

With your permission, Cherry sends your gift interests, preferences, sizes, age and gender context, dietary restrictions and gift notes to third-party AI service providers to personalize and evaluate Cherry Picks. Provider details are in our Privacy Policy. Account name, contact, address and exact birth-date fields are excluded. This also applies to profiles you manage. You can turn this off in Settings at any time. Cherry may still use AI to maintain a public product catalog without your personal data.

Personal-data AI processing is off until you approve the current disclosure. Declining keeps wishlists and Cherry Picks available, using the shared catalog and Cherry's own preference filtering. Suggestions may be less accurate or more limited. Turn AI personalization off in Settings to stop new personal-data provider requests, including queued work. Requests already sent cannot be recalled. Your recorded choice is included in account exports and removed with your account. Contact support about prior processing.

Cherry does not sell personal information. Cherry does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Cherry uses cookies and similar storage for account sessions, guest shopping continuity, color-mode preference, app security, attribution, and privacy-limited product analytics. Analytics identifiers are temporary, and shared-link tokens are not retained in analytics or error paths.

• You can choose what to save in your Gift Profile.
• You can remove gift picks or edit profile details where the app provides controls.
• A parent or guardian can edit or delete a Child Gift Profile and can turn its share link off at any time.
• You can ask Cherry to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with your account.
• If you receive a shared Gift Profile link, you can stop using the link or avoid adding shopper information.

Cherry keeps account, Gift Profile, friend, purchase mark, retailer click, and diagnostic records for as long as needed to provide the app, preserve shopper context, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and improve launch quality. Deletion requests are handled by removing or de-identifying information when legally and technically appropriate.

Cherry keeps information in a Child Gift Profile only while the profile is active and needed to provide the feature. Deleting the Child Gift Profile removes its profile details, Gift Profile answers, recommendations, picks, purchase marks, and share-link records, subject only to legal, security, or fraud-prevention obligations. Deleting the controlling account also deletes its Child Gift Profiles.

Cherry uses text and link controls, reports, blocking and human review to address harmful shared content. Reports may include the reported profile, item or exchange reference and the version of a reported profile photo. An upheld report can lead to removal of the specific content or restrictions on sharing. Photos are not sent to an image screening service. Contact support to request review of a decision.

Cherry uses content reports and account blocks to prevent abuse. Exchange reports retain a hashed reporter identifier, reported account and exchange identifiers, a safe content label, reason, and optional details for up to 90 days. Safety operation receipts expire after 30 days. Automated expiry may take additional processing time. Account deletion removes associated exchange reports and safety receipts. Reports and receipts are excluded from the self-service account export to protect reporting privacy; contact Cherry for a privacy access request. Your own outgoing blocks are included in your account export.

Cherry is a general-audience service and children under 13 may not create an account, log in, or use Cherry directly. An adult parent or guardian may create and control a Child Gift Profile by providing limited information about a child. The adult, not the child, completes the interview, manages the profile, and controls sharing.

Cherry does not use Child Gift Profiles for friend matching, contact discovery, invitations, or direct communications with the child. If you believe a child under 13 used Cherry directly or provided personal information without an adult managing the profile, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

Cherry uses access controls, authenticated sessions, Firebase security rules, hashed phone match data, and transport security to protect information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so use a strong password and avoid saving sensitive details that are not needed for gift planning.

Cherry may update this policy as the service changes, including changes to support, account deletion, visibility settings, analytics, and retailer integrations. Material updates will be reflected by changing the effective date on this page.
